Augusta Roots & Community Connection

For Katie Smith, Augusta is much more than the place where she works, it is home. In 2018, she had the opportunity to purchase a long-established Farmers Insurance agency from Reta Strotkamp, as Rita prepared for retirement. Since then, Katie has proudly carried on that trusted legacy, helping local families protect what matters most while continuing the personalized service the agency has long been known for. She and her husband both grew up in Augusta, making it especially meaningful to build a business in the community that helped shape their lives.

Community Involvement

“Being part of my local community, creating jobs and growing my business around serving others has been a joy!”

Katie's passion for serving others is what continues to inspire her each day. From helping clients protect what matters most, to creating local jobs and investing in Augusta's future, she finds great purpose in being part of the community's growth and success. Located in Augusta's historic downtown district, her agency proudly supports fellow local businesses and contributes to the ongoing revitalization of the area. Beyond her work, Katie is actively involved with numerous professional and community organizations and, serves on the Go! Augusta Board. She especially enjoys collaborating with fellow business and community leaders to help shape Augusta's future, support local initiatives, and be part of the many activities that make the community thrive. For Katie, serving others and giving back are not just professional values, but a meaningful part of her everyday life.

Servicing Beyond Business

When she's not in the office, Katie enjoys spending time with her two children, exploring local parks, and making the most of the outdoors. Her commitment to service extends well beyond her business, as she actively volunteers through her church, serves on local and professional boards and councils, and supports organizations and activities that strengthen the community. Katie is especially proud to champion efforts such as Bright Futures, local schools and sports' programs, the AHS Booster Club, and a variety of other community events and initiatives. Grateful for the support she has received throughout her business journey, Katie remains passionate about giving back and helping make Augusta a thriving place to live, work, and raise a family.
