Governor's Holiday Ornament Collection!

’Tis (almost) the season! I know… I know… it’s still WAY too hot outside with the heatwave we are having to be thinking about Christmas! BUT, this is one holiday project we think Augusta’s creative people will want to know about!

The Statehouse Ornament Project is inviting all 105 Kansas counties to create an ornament inspired by the places, people, traditions, and stories that make their community unique. And, I think Augusta has plenty of stories to tell and share about our community!The top three ornaments selected from each county will have the honor of helping decorate the State Holiday Tree at the Kansas State Capitol! Submissions are due October 1, 2026.

This special project is being held in partnership with the Kansas Association of Counties, with the winners announced during their annual conference in December.Are you Interested in participating?
