Go! Augusta Community Board Member Spotlight

Building Community

As a board member of Go! Augusta, Tonya stepped into leadership following her husband’s resignation due to health challenges. Her involvement has been both rewarding and demanding, driven by a desire to enhance local events and support small businesses. She values the town’s amenities—parks, splash pad, pool, and the emerging Redbud Trail—and credits the chamber’s diverse leadership for fostering a strong community.  Tonya’s dual role as entrepreneur and civic contributor reflects her commitment to Augusta’s growth and vitality. Whether through her storefront or her volunteer service, she continues to invest time and energy into making Augusta a thriving place to live and work.

Supporting Community

Tonya Scott has been deeply rooted in the Augusta community for over 21 years, having moved from Wichita after marrying Shane Scott. Her journey in Augusta has been marked by entrepreneurial spirit and civic engagement as their impact on Augusta’s downtown revitalization. She co-founded Sugar Shane’s and later launched Marketplace 67010 after being inspired by a market she visited in Texas, which led her to open her own locally focused retail store that has grown significantly over the years.  Her business offers a wide array of products designed to serve the community year-round, including home goods, gifts, and specialty items that reflect Augusta’s small-town charm. Tonya recently expanded businesses to include Renew Spa Suites, Bungee Fun Fitness, and a partnership in Redbud Brewery.

Festive Comminuty

Tonya’s favorite places to recharge include Castle Park and Orange Park with her grandkids, and Redbud Brewery for relaxing adult time with friends. She cherishes Augusta’s festive spirit, especially events like Witches Night Out, A Town Get Down, and the town’s beloved parades, which she believes are the heartbeat of small-town charm.

Tonya is a proud supporter of the Augusta Orioles and cheers for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Though her reading time is limited, she enjoys biographies and true-story films like Rudy, Hoosiers, and Catch Me If You Can. Her dream travel destinations include Israel, Paris, Scotland, Greece, Italy, and Spain, drawn by the history and beauty.

A self-proclaimed night owl, Tonya finds her stride late in the day and powers through challenges with resilience and optimism. Her guiding principle: “Everything is temporary and almost always works out.” What continues to inspire her most is the joy of connecting with customers, hearing their stories, and introducing fun, impactful experiences—especially through Bungee Fun Fitness, which has brought a fresh approach to wellness in Augusta.
