Go! Augusta Community Spotlight

Rooted in Community

For over a decade, Sugar Shane’s Café has been a vibrant force in the Augusta community, blending entrepreneurial spirit with hometown pride. As the founder of Sugar Shane’s Café, Shane has cultivated a space that draws diverse patrons from near and far, inspired by meaningful conversations and a shared love for local connection. Shane started the restaurant and included a beach-themed logo crafted by a local artist and other framed art by the same artist hangs on the café’s walls still today. Some of his other ideas will come with the late-night brainstorming sessions. Or he may be dreaming about a trip to Israel or Greece in the Mediterranean. Sugar Shane’s journey is fueled by passion, perseverance, and a deep appreciation for the human spirit — reflected in his favorite films like Seabiscuit, Apollo 13, and Hoosiers. Cheering on the underdog.

Community Vision

Shane’s favorite spot to recharge is Redbud Brewery, where he gathers with family and friends, and he finds joy in community events like A Town Get Down and the town’s many communities parades. You might overhear cheers for the Kansas City Royals and Dallas Cowboys in football season, and the KC Royals and Chicago Cubs in baseball season. It all comes back to community. Believing a very strong town needs a long-term vision and active citizen involvement, with people as its greatest resource. Shane is deeply committed and says, “This is my hometown, and I love it!”

Supportive Community

Brandon Denoncourt, Shane’s step son, is closely connected to Sugar Shane’s Café as he has managed Sugar Shane’s Café for five years. Under his leadership, the café continues to thrive, offering more than hearty American cuisine in its signature beach-themed atmosphere and is still known for his active support of both the business and the Augusta community. He and Sugar Shane’s Café have been recognized for their contributions to local initiatives, including fundraising efforts that help support causes benefiting the people of the community.

Community to Celebrate

In the Month of September, Sugar Shane’s will be celebrating with 10 years serving the Augusta and the surrounding areas.   Drop by for a plate favorite of Fish Tacos and onion rings and discuss the favorite teams’ scores.
