Go! Augusta Community Businessman in the Spotlight
Growing Family
The Corbin family has deep roots in Kansas, having settled between what is now Augusta and Towanda many years ago. David and Betty met in Wichita, where Corbin Financial Services was first established. The business later moved to Augusta and eventually found its home in a beautifully refurbished barn on the family farm. David and Betty continue to reside on the farm—Fulton Valley Farm—a fully operational property that has supported a variety of livestock and crops over the years. Fulton Valley Farm is proudly recognized as a Sesquicentennial Farm, a testament to its long-standing heritage. Visitors from major cities often travel here to experience the serene Kansas night sky and view the original Land Grant from 1869. The farm’s logo features this historic date along with a depiction of its iconic windmill, which remains in working condition today. As part of its commitment to agritourism, Fulton Valley Farm welcomes guests from around the globe who come to witness life on a working farm. These visitors often leave feeling like part of the extended Corbin family.
Community Traditions
David, an Augusta High School alumnus, proudly cheers on the Orioles alongside fellow residents. When he and Betty brought their business to Augusta, the community welcomed them with open arms. Betty especially cherishes the charm of the old town, from its historic brick streets to the peaceful beauty of Old Garvin Park—where she still enjoys quiet drives around the lake.
One of their favorite local traditions is the annual Christmas Lighted Parade. They’ve gone from spectators to participants, now contributing a festive sleigh and live reindeer for Santa and Mrs. Claus to ride through town. After the parade, children gather to take photos with Santa and the reindeer, creating cherished memories. This tradition continues at Fulton Valley Farm, where families can enjoy photo opportunities, a festive Christmas dinner, and breakfast with Santa.
Community Holidays
What began years ago as private gatherings for family and friends has blossomed into a beloved community celebration. Betty has overcame her fears and now delights in meeting kind-hearted visitors. Through financial challenges and creative growth, their guiding principles—honesty and faith—have remained constant, with the Bible serving as a trusted source of inspiration.
Twelve years ago, they felt led to introduce a living nativity, complete with scripture readings and music. Believing that God is at the heart of their mission, they continue to reach people through meaningful experiences. Over time, they expanded the festivities to include colorfully lit walking paths and illuminated trees. Today, guests can stroll beneath twinkling lights, enjoy holiday music in the crisp night air, and meet Santa himself—alongside live North American reindeer.
Betty shared, one of the greatest joys over the years has been meeting so many wonderful people through the events hosted at Fulton Valley Farm. Whether it's weddings, holiday celebrations, or seasonal gatherings, these moments have a way of turning guests into family. Each event is more than just a date on the calendar—it’s a chance to build lasting connections, share joy, and welcome others into the heart of their farm and their lives.
