Go! Augusta Community Board Member of the Month Spotlight Stacy Jeffries

Lifelong Connection

Stacy has been part of the Augusta community since early childhood, as it has been her hometown since she was one year old. Her involvement began at a young age, starting in middle school when she volunteered alongside friends and family who were active in the Augusta Arts Council. During this time, she helped clean and prepare the historic Augusta Theatre for its reopening and later spent weekends with Claire, Sherry, and Mary running the concession stand for about two years. This early volunteer work rooted her sense of responsibility and pride in supporting local cultural spaces.  Stacy recharges around town, but mostly at home with her Bible study at night.  And when she is not cheering on her Oriole students she may be at Garvin Park, the City Lake or dreaming of an Alaska Cruise to see the Northern Lights and hear the whales.

Downtown Commitment

As a business owner in the downtown district, Stacy sees her role as more than operating a coffee shop. She views her business as a community anchor that contributes to belonging, connection, and economic stability. She actively supports and participates in downtown events such as festivals, the car show, and the Brick Street Bazaar, emphasizing that these gatherings strengthen relationships and bring the community together.  Personally, she strives to consistently to make decisions based on what supports my customers, my town, and the people who rely on my space.  Stacy believes in staying honest, transparent, and fair — even when it’s inconvenient, growing though the challenges to build more confidence.

“On my third day of being open, I was chatting with a customer at the counter when another walked in, stopped by the fireplace, threw her hands in the air, and said, “NORM!” In that moment, I knew exactly why I had bought the coffeehouse. It wasn’t just about coffee—it was about the extended family it creates, the friendships, the love, and being able to provide for my hometown community.”

Advocacy for Community Resilience

Through her service on community committees and as a new Go! Augusta Board member, Stacy is inspired by the collective effort to build a stronger future for the next generation. She is especially motivated by initiatives that help younger residents feel connected to their hometown and develop pride and lasting memories of Augusta. Stacy speaks thoughtfully about what makes a strong community, emphasizing the importance of small‑town history, tradition, collaboration, mutual support, and resilience. Reflecting on Augusta’s ability to weather challenges such as the refinery closure, economic shifts downtown, and the flood of 1998, she believes lasting progress comes from residents who remain committed through difficult times. Her involvement is grounded in ensuring Augusta continues to be a welcoming place where people want to live, invest, and belong.
