WHAT IS CORE COMMUNITY?
Core Community is about healing lives, solving poverty, and empowering communities for greatness through relationships.
Poverty overwhelms individuals, families, communities, and institutions. The experience of poverty is often painful and full of a sense of powerlessness and isolation.
We have worked for years now to create a safe space for families experiencing poverty to emerge and begin to claim the lives they deserve. We don't want to alleviate poverty or reduce it, we want to solve it. That is our heart. From years of experience, we also know families in poverty are the most generous among us. They are problem solvers and they have much to offer the larger community if we create a space at the table for them to do so.
Often, people do not spend time in social settings with people who are not like them. We know that if that does not change, then nothing changes. Core Community is about bringing families experiencing poverty to a safe place where their voices are heard. They are treated with honor and dignity as they begin to unpack what poverty is like where they live. They help us actively create solutions to get people out of poverty - including themselves.
